1. Palacio Real. One Europe’s finest palaces, with some of the most elaborately decorated walls and ceilings imaginable. Built by order of Philip II, it is a Palace, Church and Royal Pantheon. Next stop is El Valle de los Caidos, a monument built in memory of those who died in the Spanish Civil War.
