Bern – the cosy Swiss capital city

Security, accessibility, infrastructure and attractiveness of the region are considered important decision factors in the meetings industry and they are all present in Bern.

In which country in the world can you meet a minister in a tram on his way to work? Provided you are prepared to get up early enough. Because despite the proverbial Bernese cosiness, economic efficiency does not stop in Bern.

An innovative network

Innovation and research are as much a part of Bern as the Parliament Square and the BearPark. As an important business and science location, the capital city specifically promotes progress in the fields of sustainability, healthcare, matter and universe, intercultural knowledge and politics. These are known far beyond the borders of Switzerland - know-how that is contagious. Albrecht von Haller, Emil Theodor Kocher and Albert Einstein all lectured or studied at the University of Bern and came up with "relatively" good ideas. The existing network between the University of Bern, the city of Bern and the Convention Bureau offers ideal conditions for scientific conferences.

Right in the middle

Bern is located in the middle of Europe and at in the heart of Switzerland. And that's exactly why the Swiss capital of Bern is in a decisively good starting position for holding a business event: a short and comfortable journey. Did you know that Bern offers a huge amount cultural institutions on a comparatively small space? Bern will make sure to keep you busy and relaxed at the same time during and after the meeting. But also in the city itself you can get around quickly. Many places are within walking distance and if you still need to use (free) public transport, you can reach your destination within a few minutes.

Cosy and diverse

One of the secrets of Bern is undoubtedly its relaxed atmosphere. Bern offers an enormous variety of locations for holding business events in a manageable area - from historic vaulted cellars, such as the Kornhauskeller, to cultural architectural gems, such as the Zentrum Paul Klee, the ultra-modern Kursaal Bern Congress Center or smaller, innovative locations such as the INNOspace right in the vicinity of the Gurten, Bern's local mountain.

Ideas for social programmes in Bern

Bern can also draw on the full range of social programmes:

  • cooking on fire with your meeting partners
  • take them up to the snow in the Bernese Oberland
  • foster team spirit at a creative workshop or typical Emmental farm Olympics
  • exchange ideas with colleagues at technical visits to renowned institutions

There are no limits to the excursions and activities on offer in Bern.
