Málaga's old palaces for today's events

Málaga and its region are constantly evolving, and are now even preparing their bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2016. But you don't have to wait until then to host your conference under the Spanish sun!

Málaga and its region are constantly evolving, and are now even preparing their bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2016. But you don't have to wait until then to host your conference under the Spanish sun! Even their old palaces are now reliving a second life...

Palacio Duque de Heredia

The Palace Duke of Heredia was built during the first third of 13th century by Mr. Manuel Agustín Heredia and his wife, Ms. Isabel Livermore and Salas, and it was destined to be the vacation home of the family. The estate soon turned into the meeting place of the whole middle class and important parties and meetings were celebrated there during several decades, which had great importance in the history of Spain and its economy. Along the gardens and flowerbeds important personalities walked, important business were closed and even weddings reached an agreement. Its gorgeous 21.000 m2 garden, which is part from the botanical garden of Málaga, has 250 different species, some of them unique. It offers plenty of possibilities for very exclusive receptions and gala dinners, with different capacities both indoors and outdoors.

Palacio de Cropani

The Cropani Palace is a Neoclassical building built at the turn of the 18th century palace, which after being fully restored still preserves the charm of the old townhouse of the Marquises of Cropani. The palace's Andalusian patio, with its Tuscan columns and original tiles dating from 1929, made at the well-known factory of Jose and Enrique Mensaque – whose work figures in such important buildings as the Baleo y Negro in Madrid and the Alhambra Theatre in London – leads off to the marble staircase, in whose well the first lift in Malaga was installed in 1900. With an area of more than 1.200m2 distributed on three floors, featuring enormous windows, marble floors and an exquisite attention to detail, this unsurpassable building is indeed unique. Conceived as a new cultural and leisure venue, its aim is to complement the city's existing facilities. Besides housing important exhibitions, visitors can listen to music or buy books and gifts at the venue's two shops. Likewise, the palace's different spaces can be hired for congresses, presentations, cocktail parties and dinners, private celebrations, and business meetings for groups up to 250 people.
